Established in 1982, the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is modelled after the United Nations General Assembly. AFN is a national advocacy organization representing First Nations citizens in Canada, which includes more than 900,000 people living in more than 600 First Nations communities and in cities and towns across the country.
The Assembly of First Nations is seeking a highly collaborative and experienced individual with an established reputation and the ability to lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluations of the Rights and Justice Branch. Reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Policy Integration (VP, SPI), the Senior Director is responsible for the strong performance of the Branch, implementation of the political mandates, the achievement of work plans and objectives, strong communication within and across branches, and effective national advocacy strategies in First Nations (FN) related issues.
