Beacon Community Services – Director of Finance and Administration

Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance and Administration (“Director”) is accountable for all aspects of financial operations, including financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, banking, insurance, and budget development. Operating from an organizational risk management perspective, overarching responsibilities include financial reporting, cash management, capital asset management, as well as contract management and negotiation. A key responsibility is to provide timely and insightful monthly financial reporting to the CEO and management team that includes appropriate program-level variance analysis and other financial highlights.

Providing guidance and strong mentorship to the Finance team, the Director will provide oversight and direction to the accounting function. In addition to ensuring transactional and period-end accounting activities are properly performed, this role supports the annual audit and is responsible for a variety of reporting and compliance activities to funders and other government agencies. Major funders include Island Health, BC Housing, certain Provincial Ministries, as well as a various community partner agencies such as the United Way.
