Reporting to a Deputy Chief, the Executive Director, HR Division is the most senior dedicated HR leader and is a key contributor to the Senior Leadership team. Generally, the ED, HR Division oversees and is responsible for developing human resource strategies for both sworn and civilian employees that support service-wide goals and objectives and overseeing the implementation of those strategies. This position provides leadership and recommendations to CPS Executive on human resources programs, policies and services.
The CPS is transforming its human resources delivery and requires an experienced senior HR executive who will act as a change agent to set the vision and lead the modernization of services. Along with innovative transformation, the CPS is creating an inclusive workplace with a mandate of achieving a respectful, healthy workplace culture.
Key to this role is the ED’s ability to develop strong relationships throughout the organization, providing timely advice and value-added support and services. If successful, HR will become a key business partner to the operations leadership team, being invited to proactively participate and provide HR expertise throughout their decision-making processes.
Functional units in the HR Division include the Career Development, Business Partnerships, Placements, HR Security, Civilian Recruitment & Admin, Reintegration and HR Planning Unit. This position builds partnerships across the Service; collaborates with other police agencies, City of Calgary HR, and provides reporting to the Calgary Police Commission.
