Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable for the overall performance and operational effectiveness of the organization and, in collaboration with the Board, sets the strategic direction. The CEO attracts, coaches, develops, retains, and motivates a strong, high-performing leadership team that model and facilitate a person-centered and care delivery culture of mutual trust and respect.

The CEO provides direction and leadership to the organization through the planning (strategic, operational, capital), promotion and implementation of programs, services, processes, accreditation standards and governance policies that support the achievement of the Foundation’s mission, vision, and strategic direction, as set out by the Board. Providing visionary leadership and direction to the Foundation, the CEO develops, plans, and implements corporate goals and objectives, long-term plans, and annual operational plans.

Focusing both inward and outward, the CEO provides leadership in monitoring trends in senior’s housing and supportive living, as well as funding opportunities to ensure Canterbury Foundation remains attractive as a place of choice. The CEO cultivates strong relationships with the Board, residents and families, staff, partners, government, financial institutions, and donors.

The spokesperson of the organization, the CEO participates in public engagements, collaborates with other non-profit seniors’ housing associations to advocate for change, leverages external relationship networks to build community engagement and continuously builds innovative fundraising and donor strategies.
