The Chief Director of Legal Services (“Chief Director”) oversees the activities of CSFS’s legal department, providing legal advice, interpretation, and guidance to the CEO, Executive Director—Justice, and Executive Directors regarding contracts, interpretation of federal and provincial legislation, child well-being (Child Protection) and environment of care. The Chief Director will play a vital role in developing Justice Programs, including the development of the Carrier Sekani Child and Family Services legislative framework to enable the onboarding of the child and family legal services system. The Chief Director will recruit and manage a complement of lawyers and paralegal professionals to assist in program development and implementation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced lawyer who specializes in child welfare to participate in the building of a new model of justice and the platform for the delivery of associated programs and services. The Chief Director will be an integral player in implementing the new child welfare legislation that will be transformative in the lives of families within the Carrier Sekani family of Nations.
