Reporting to the Vice President, Advancement, CIFAR is seeking a Director of DevelopmentWorking with the Advancement team, the Director will provide leadership to CIFAR’s donor relations program and manage fundraising initiativesThe Director will manage their own portfolio of major gift donors and prospects and will employ innovative approaches in developing new giving opportunities to inspire donor support in CIFARThe Director will develop and implement a refreshed planned giving program and, working with CIFAR’s Manager of Annual Giving, oversee the implementation of the Annual Giving Plan. The Director will also support the Vice President, Advancement in advancing a portfolio of principal gift prospects. The Director will be a key member of the Advancement team, and will uphold best practices in managing donor information, in building a culture of philanthropy, and in assisting and leading on various fundraising projects as they arise.  

As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced Major Gift fundraiser with a track record of success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individuals, foundations and corporations for gifts in the six-figure range. You have progressive experience in fundraising and are skilled with taking the initiative in reaching out to build relationships with donors and volunteers. Finding and articulating the right opportunity for each donor ignites your passion for fundraising work. You are equally comfortable discussing endowment and planned giving vehicles, and bring a solid working knowledge of all the giving vehicles, including charitable bequests, beneficiary designations, gifts involving retirement plan assets and life insurance policies, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and other outright and deferred planned gifts. You have exceptional communication skills, and are able to build strong relationships with both internal and external donors and partners As a colleague, you are collaborative, collegial, supportive and transparent which will enable you to work with people across the organization in securing gifts to support CIFARs short and long term goals.
