Reporting directly to the City Manager (CAO) with a ‘dotted line’ connection to the Mayor and City Council, the Chief of Staff is responsible for leading the Strategy, Legislative, Communications, Marketing and Intergovernmental Affairs team. The organization relies on this team to implement efforts that ensure appropriate executive services are provided to the Office of the Mayor and the Office of the CAO, the Legislative Services and City Clerk functions are serving the organization, the community, the City’s marketing and communications functions are of the highest caliber, and that the City achieves and sustains impeccable intergovernmental relations.

The Chief of Staff is integral to the City’s corporate leadership team and an invaluable resource to the Mayor and Council. Combining strategy, legislative, marketing, communications and political acumen will define the Chief of Staff and constitute the responsibilities of this office within the City organization.
