The Faculty of Science is responsible for the Master of Science in Information Technology program, Bachelor of Environmental Health (After Degree) (BENVH(AD)) program, as well as 3- and 4-yr programs in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Information Technology (4 yr only) and Mathematics. The faculty also offers many minors that are available to students campus wide. The BENVH(AD) program is one of only six programs in Canada that train students to be an Environment Health (EH) Officer or Public Health Inspector. The 4-yr chemistry program is accredited by the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC). The biology 4-yr degree program has emphasis in Cell and Molecular Biology and Integrative Biology. The environmental science 4-yr degree program has an emphasis in Environmental Assessment and Remediation. Our students in the biology and chemistry programs are eligible to apply for membership in the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB) and the Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta (ACPA), respectively.

Reporting to the Vice-President Academic and Provost, the Dean, Faculty of Science will represent and implement the academic and administrative policies and decisions of the university to achieve strategic goals and objectives. The Dean is responsible for the success of the Faculty of Science and as such will have strong academic and business acumen.

The successful candidate will promote a high standard of teaching, research, and community service in the context of collaborative teamwork and the growing diversity of faculty, staff, and students. They will ensure that the Faculty’s research is promoted and enhanced, and degree programs are innovative, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of current and future students.
