Director, Recruitment – City of Edmonton

Reporting to the Branch Manager, Talent Management and Support Services, the Director of Recruitment is a member of the department’s Extended Leadership Team and leads a large group of recruiting professionals to ensure the City of Edmonton attracts the best talent while also being mindful of collective agreement commitments.

The Director of Recruitment will be responsible for strategically creating programs and processes to attract, recruit, select, and retain employees based on business growth projections and the talent needs of a changing business model. The Director of Recruitment will manage the recruitment team, ensuring the highest level of professional customer service is delivered.

The Director of Recruitment has four direct reports and leads a team of 30 recruitment professionals, with a direct budget of about $2.5M and an overall budget of approximately $6M that includes staff support and contracts. On an annual basis, the Recruitment team is tasked with the recruitment of 4000+ individuals to support the professional and seasonal demands of municipal operations. The Director of Recruitment will also be responsible for the redevelopment and implementation of appropriate strategies for employment outreach programs.
