The General Counsel is a trusted legal advisor, accountable for the provision of strategic legal services on a broad range of governance, finance, procurement and corporate/commercial related matters to ensure BC Assessment is in compliance with the law. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the position is involved with risk mitigation and works closely with the executive staff and the senior leadership team to identify and leverage strategic business opportunities.

The Corporate Secretary provides strategic legal support to BC Assessment’s Board of Directors (Board) and its Committees. Reporting to the Board Chair, the position also establishes and oversees the governance frame-work and provides advice on governance requirements and issues.
