This unique opportunity is focused on the commitment to the Indigenization of our educational models and learning processes and is driven by the recognition of national, regional and local First Nations’ history and the impacts on societies, communities, families, and students. This role will offer a distinct opportunity to significantly impact the success of Aboriginal youth in the district.

The new District Principal, Aboriginal Nations Education (ANED) is complementary to another District Principal role. It will support the fulfillment of external engagement requirements and facilitation of stakeholder involvement. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in influencing instructional programming and curriculum and will enable organizational development.

The school district encompasses 6 municipalities and a vast range of demographics with an expected growth of at least 10% over the next decade. With an estimated 17,500 Aboriginal people living in the region, the young demographic is reflected in the student population across the district. More than 1557 self-identified Aboriginal students are registered in the public school system.
