Indian Oil and Gas Canada (IOGC) – CEO/Executive Director

ID: 23-P055  Location: Calgary, AB

As a Special Operating Agency within Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), Indian Oil and Gas Canada (IOGC) manage and regulates oil and gas resources on designated First Nation lands across Canada. IOGC has a dual mandate to fulfill the Crown’s fiduciary and statutory obligations related to the management of oil and gas resources on First Nation lands and to further First Nation initiatives that will lead to managing, controlling, and governing their own oil and resources.

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Lands and Economic Development, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (ED and CEO) of IOGC is responsible for all activities of the agency, reporting on day-to-day issues while being accountable to the Deputy Minister for achieving objectives and performance targets within agreed upon resource levels. Although the Deputy Minister is the employer, authority is delegated to the ED and CEO for human resources and operational management, allowing IOGC greater flexibility while it retains its place as a public service organization.
