Reporting to the Vice President, Academic, the Dean, Health and Human Services (the Dean) will assist in leading the ongoing transformation and alignment of the College’s vision of “being responsive and consistently meeting or exceeding the expectations of our learner stakeholders and communities.” As an active member of the College Leadership Team, this position will be responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership including developing detailed plans and directions for assigned areas, providing advice and mentorship to managers and employees, and managing change initiatives effectively. The Dean will be directly responsible and accountable for the overall educational and business management of the (new) School of Health and Human Services as well the expansion of programming, the quality of programs and the effective and efficient delivery of them. The position will work collaboratively with the Vice President, Academic and Executive Team; Deans and senior administrators; chairpersons; and department faculty/staff to establish and achieve both organizational and College goals and objectives.
The Dean will advise, coach and provide clear direction for the Chairpersons, administrative staff, and office staff to ensure compliance and implementation of College policies, procedures and directives, and works closely with them to ensure positive educational outcomes for students in all program areas and to facilitate the smooth operation of the School of Health and Human Services. Finally, the Dean develops and commits to a strategic path that will contribute to the achievement of the College’s mission and goals, program and course completion of students.
This position is directly responsible and accountable for the expansion of programming, curriculum quality, professional program delivery, and the efficient financial operations and sustainability of the School. The Dean develops and implements annual budgets and is responsible for the overall financial performance in addition to respecting the collective agreements.
The Dean ensures that the School of Health and Human Services operates under the College vision, mission and mandate, and in accordance with College policies and procedures. The Dean also participates in the planning and operational processes of the College as a member of the leadership Councils, the Dean’s Council and other ad hoc committees and groups as required for the purpose of the position. The Dean ensures appropriate liaison with external groups, agencies and business relevant to the areas of responsibilities.
