The Advisor, Pension Policy & Risk, works as part of a team that supports the organization’s strategic priorities of being (i) an industry leader in pension risk management, (ii) a sustainable pension plan, (iii) a unique and distinguishable pension organization, and (iv) a highly functioning organization.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Pension Policy & Oversight this role is primarily responsible for (i) research and analysis on various pension matters, (ii) development of pension policy, (iii) monitoring of services and service levels provided by Alberta Pensions Services Corporation (APS), (iv) identification and evaluation of pension plan risks, (v) data-driven decision making, and (vi) preparing materials for approval by the LAPP Corporate and Sponsor Boards.
The Advisor, Pension Policy & Risk position requires a unique and diverse skill set that includes experience and expertise in key areas such as (i) pension policy and legislation, (ii) pension administration processes and best practices, (iii) managing vendor relationships, (iv) working with large data sets and drawing conclusions, and (v) deterministic and stochastic modelling. This position supports many strategic initiatives which are part of the corporate business plan. As a result, this role requires flexibility, efficient time management and an ability to work independently to manage significant projects.
