As Edmonton’s downtown university, MacEwan plays a key role in downtown vibrancy and resiliency. MacEwan occupies seven city blocks in the core of downtown and strives to strengthen that role through an ambitious and innovative campus master plan. The AVP, Infrastructure Planning and Management (AVP) provides strategic leadership in leveraging MacEwan’s unique location and stewarding the buildings that make up its footprint.

Reporting to the VP, Finance and Administration & CFO, the AVP is responsible for capital projects and construction, facilities operations and maintenance, and custodial services and grounds maintenance. In collaboration with academic and administrative leadership, the AVP shapes, guides and directs solutions that support the academic mission and goals of the University. Short-term, mid-range and long-term strategies are developed with principles of operational excellence, financial strength and sustainability. Building and maintaining relationships with neighbouring communities to ensure social license to operate and ongoing connections is integral to the AVP’s success. All responsibilities and activities of the AVP are performed in accordance with the policies and regulations of MacEwan University, City of Edmonton and Province of Alberta.

The AVP is responsible for building the culture and framework for success of reporting departments; leading a diverse workforce of over 100 staff members responsible for the physical campus which includes approximately 237,348 total square feet of building space on both the main campus (from 105 to 112 Street, including pedways) and off-campus locations (Alberta College Campus) and approximately 34 acres of land. This position is instrumental in leading the planning and development of new facilities and future development of campus environments and has direct fiscal accountability for over $15M in expenditures and $2M in revenue.
