Centrally located on Manitoulin Island within the Great Lakes Region of Northern Ontario, Canada, the heart of the community is located within a large bay surrounded by the North Channel shores of Lake Huron. The First Nation, formerly known as West Bay, proudly changed the name of the community to M’Chigeeng. M’Chigeeng First Nation is committed to creating a healthy, strong, and vibrant community that promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being and healing.
Reporting to the Chief and Council, the Enaagdenjged (They who take care of others or things) leads and manages operations for M’Chigeeng First Nation. This important role acts as administrative lead and the link between Senior Management and Chief and Council. They are responsible for all aspects of operations and ensuring the Chief and Council are kept informed to support decision-making and is engaged to provide partner and stakeholder perspectives. The Enaagdenjged ensures the necessary policies, processes, and procedures are in place for the M’Chigeeng First Nation administration to function effectively while supporting its members.
