The Nunavik Marine Region Planning Commission (NMRPC) was established upon the ratification of the Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement in 2008. The Nunavik Marine Region Planning Commission (NMRPC or The Commission) is an Institution of Public Government (IPG) mandated to develop, implement, and monitor a Nunavik Marine Region Marine Use Plan (NMRMUP) for the Nunavik Marine Region (NMR) in accordance with the Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement (NILCA). The NMRPC also contributes to the development of arctic policy and prioritizes the requirement to clean-up waste sites and, where possible, restore the environmental integrity of the NMR. The NILCA is the penultimate reference for NMRPC governance and defines the roles and responsibilities of The Commission.
