West Kelowna Hires New Chief Administrative Officer
West Kelowna Council has hired Mr. Paul Gipps as the City’s new Chief Administrative Officer.
Mayor Gord Milsom says that Mr. Gipps is a seasoned professional with nearly 30 years of local government experience, most recently as CAO of the Fraser Valley Regional District.
“Council and I are very pleased to have found someone with Paul’s depth of local government experience,” said Milsom. “He brings a proven track record as a solution-oriented, customer service-focused leader with an excellent reputation for forming and maintaining solid partnerships with other governments and stakeholders.”
He will start with the City of West Kelowna July 8.
Mr. Gipps began his career as a journeyman carpenter and a building official. He then advanced his career into local government management. He holds a Public Sector Management diploma from the University of Victoria. He has served in most management roles in local government. He has also served as either CAO or Deputy CAO in Terrace, Houston, Gibsons and Mission.
The City retained Leaders International Executive Search on March 20 to assist with the recruitment of West Kelowna’s Chief Administrative Officer as it sought a professional with considerable local government leadership experience. The City chose the company because of its 30 years of experience in placing senior leaders in all industries with a particularly strong history in recruiting for the municipal government sector.
