Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Dean of the TFSON is accountable for the academic and administrative leadership, the quality of education delivered in all programs offered and is accountable for the School’s fiscal performance. The Dean is responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership, providing advice and mentorship to staff, and managing change initiatives effectively.
The Dean advises, coaches, supports, and provides clear direction for the faculty and staff to ensure compliance and implementation of the University’s policies, procedures, and directives. The Dean works closely with the School’s staff to ensure positive educational outcomes for students and facilitates the smooth operation of the TFSON.
This Dean is responsible and accountable for curriculum review and quality, program delivery, stakeholder engagement, and the efficient financial operations and sustainability of the School. The Dean develops and implements annual budgets and is responsible for the overall financial performance in addition to respecting the collective agreements.
The Dean is accountable for assuring a safe workplace and learning environment for staff, faculty, and students in the School. The Dean is responsive to the needs of faculty, staff and students, upholds and models the values of Trent University and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
The Dean is accountable for building effective and collegial relationships within the School, with cognate disciplines in the University and with partners, both service and academic, in the community. The Dean plays a critical role in building an inclusive and collaborative culture that drives quality education with a student-centred approach.
