Reporting to the Executive Director (“ED”), and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values, policies and procedures, and strategic direction of Yaletown House, the Director of Care (Resident Services) (“Director”) is responsible for the senior leadership, administrative and operational activities within the context of a person-centered model of care of resident services including: direct care, social work, staffing, recreation, and allied health professionals (music, dietician, horticultural, spiritual care, occupational and physio therapy, and rehabilitation) as well as all external clinical care service providers (medical practitioners, dental, foot care, pharmacy, and lab services).
The Director is responsible for both the strategic and senior leadership of resident services to ensure quality care and programs are in place for the residents and that they are in accordance with the Adult Care Regulations, public health and safety regulations, and all other applicable legislation and regulations that govern the care home.
The Director is responsible for leading and motivating their team to create a culture of excellence by setting a high standard for themself and their team through planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the resources, services, and programs to ensure the delivery of exceptional care and comprehensive programs are provided in an effective and efficient delivery of services, and in accordance with the departments’ operating and capital budgets. The Director promotes a safe and respectful working environment for residents, families, visitors and staff within their departments.
Leading a total team of ~150 through two direct reports, the Director is an integral member of the Leadership Team and is effective at developing strong partnerships to meet the objectives of the organization in support of Yaletown House’s Strategic and Operating Plans as it relates to resident services. The Director may assume the role of Acting ED when appointed by the ED or Board of Directors in the ED’s absence.
